SFP (Small Form-factor Pluggable) is a compact, hot-pluggable transceiver used for both telecommunication and data communications applications. It interfaces a network device motherboard (for a switch, router, media converter or similar device) to a fiber optic or copper networking cable. SFPs are available in a variety of different types, such as SFP+, SFP28, and SFP-SX. Cisco SFP-SX is a type of SFP transceiver that supports short-wavelength (850nm) fiber connections. It is designed for use in Gigabit Ethernet links up to 550m on multi-mode fiber. It is also compatible with other Cisco SFP transceivers, allowing for easy integration into existing networks.
