SFP28 is a type of small form-factor pluggable (SFP) transceiver used for data communication applications. It is a compact, hot-pluggable transceiver used for both telecommunication and data communications applications. It is designed to support 25Gbps data rate over multi-mode fiber (MMF) and single-mode fiber (SMF) with a maximum reach of up to 100 meters. SFP28 is an enhanced version of the SFP+ transceiver, which supports up to 10Gbps data rate. It is widely used in data centers, enterprise networks, and high-performance computing applications.
